Khaos was a Heavyweight combat robot built by the JCOS Robotics Squad that competed in RoboGames 2017. It is a white, four-wheeled, invertible, box-shaped robot armed with a small vertical flywheel at the front. Khaos did not do well in competition, winning only one match by forfeit before losing its next two fights.
A new version, Khaos 3, competed in RoboGames 2023. Fitted with pontoon-style front wedges, a green colour scheme inspired by military equipment and a more threatening weapon, this iteration also saw limited success.
JCOS Robotics Squad also entered the much more successful Heavyweight Lil Pip in RoboGames 2016 which reached the semifinals.
Robot History[]
RoboGames 2017[]
Khaos's first match was supposed to be against Plasma, however Plasma arrived to the event incomplete, and was forced to forfeit the match putting Khaos into the next round where it faced Echo 2.0. This match started with both bots spinning up, Echo struck first popping Khaos into the air. Khaos then shoved Echo, stopping both bots weapons temporarily.
Echo then got away, and delivered a massive blow to Khaos that sent it flying through the air, and disabling its flywheel. However Khaos landed on its wheels, and drove away but not before Echo delivered a minor pop to the front corner of Khaos. Khaos then drove to the side of Echo 2.0, and attempted to shove it into the wall but missed, and slammed itself hard into the wall, and stopped moving and was counted out.
This loss put Khaos in the loser's bracket where it fought Prometheus,
RoboGames 2023[]
Khaos 3 recieved a bye in the first round before meeting Stink Eye. Despite losing drive on one side early on, Khaos 3 was able to pop Stink Eye onto its end, propped against its decorative eye, where it was counted out.
Khaos 3 progressed to fight Ragin Scotsman. Khaos started well, scoring pops against Ragin Scotsman's front wedges. The latter then rode up onto the former, getting one of the 'ears' either side of Khaos' drum caught behind its wedge, requiring an unstick. When the fight restarted, Ragin Scotsman shoved Khaos against the wall and then buffeted it into the corner. The two were stuck briefly on the side of the arena but became free, Ragin Scotsman going on to slam its opponent against multiple walls, Khaos seemingly caught on its adversary and unable to get away. After nearly a minute of Ragin Scotsman being under its opponent, Khaos was shoved once more into the side of the arena, this time hung up on it and on one of its hinged wedges. Unable to work its way back onto its wheels, Khaos 3 was counted out and Ragin Scotsman took the win.
Khaos 3 fell into the losers' bracket, where it faced Whomper. Khaos was flipped within seconds and rendered immobile. After being pushed towards the wall, it was counted out and eliminated from the competition.
Khaos 3 also participated in an exhibition rumble with DOOM and Bullion. As Khaos and Bullion jostled, DOOM got its weapon up to speed and delivered a shot to Bullion's front. Khaos 3 had yet to spin up its drum and now also lost drive on one side. DOOM took another run up against Bullion but with no effect, and let out a puff of smoke as its weapon ground to a halt. The robots continued to push into each other, Khaos soon losing drive altogether while one of Bullion's wheels came increasingly loose, before it too became fully immobile. DOOM, the most energetic competitor throughout the fight, was left the victor by knockout.
