ROBOlympics 2004 was the first ever RoboGames event, it ran from March, 20, 2004 - March, 21, 2004. The event took place in San Francisco, California with a field of 156 bots registering for the Robot Combat events. However only 125 are known to have shown up to the event, with 81 teams competing in the Robot Combat events. Due to copyright issues future events became known as RoboGames, the name used to this very day.
