Overview[]
Stink Eye was a heavyweight combat robot which competed in RoboGames 2023. It shared many common parts and features with Last Rites, built by the same team, but was instead armed with a vertical spinner. Originally, it also sported a large glowing red eye held above the back of the robot, but this was removed after it contributed to Stink Eye's first loss.
Robot History[]
RoboGames 2023[]
Stink Eye's first fight of 2023 was against another new machine, Bullion. Stink Eye won by knock-out.
Stink Eye's second fight of the event was against Khaos 3. Despite losing drive on one side early on, Khaos 3 was able to pop Stink Eye onto its end, propped against its decorative eye, where it was counted out.
Now in the loser's bracket, Stink Eye fought Piranha, a renamed, later version of Swamp Thing. Despite taking damage to its forks and wedge, Stink Eye won a judges' decision as Piranha became caught on the wall and ground to a halt towards the end of the fight.
Stink Eye progressed to face promising newcomer Manta. In this fight, Manta broke one of Stink Eye's drive pods free within the first minute, leaving it dangling out of the side of the robot, before bending the other drive side up. This damage left Stink Eye without traction and it was counted out, eliminating it from the competition.
RoboGames 2024[]
Stink Eye's first match in 2024 would be a rematch against Bullion. The fight started with Stink Eye spinning up and grinding away at the front plate of Bullion before landing a solid shot on a wheel, killing that side of drive. Bullion was still alive, so Stink Eye threateningly ground away at the front plow. Bullion then tapped out, sending Stink Eye to the round of 16 where it would face Magnitude.
The fight started with both bots spinning up and exchanging a weapon to weapon shot that threw Stink Eye back from the recoil. Stink Eye recovered and exchanged two more weapon to weapon shots with Magnitude before Magnitude threw Stink Eye onto its back. Stink Eye couldn't drive inverted and was counted out, giving the win to Magnitude.
Stink Eye was meant to fight Double Trouble in the loser's bracket, but Double Trouble was unable to repair the damage suffered from Black Dragon earlier in the day and forfeit, sending Stink Eye to the next round where it would face the eggbeater of Hailstorm.
The fight started with both bots spinning up and exchanging weapon to weapon shots. Hailstorm pulled away to let its weapon spool up, then threw Stink Eye onto its face. Stink Eye was counted out and the win went to Hailstorm.
