Overview[]
The Mortician was a Middleweight built by Hardcore Robotics that competed at ROBOlympics 2004-RoboGames 2013 as well as the ComBots Cup l-VII. It was a Red (originally black or silver), box shaped, invertible, two wheeled robot armed with a very powerful spinning bar that could sometimes break down. The Mortician did well in competition, winning numerous medals, including two Gold Medals in its first two RoboGames. The Mortician was retired after RoboGames 2013, and is one of the more successful Middleweights in RoboGames history. However, it has been confirmed Mortician will be returning from retirement for Robogames 2023, 10 years since it retired.

The Mortician gets flipped by Jimmy
The Mortician's first match from this event was against Jimmy. The only things known about this fight is that Jimmy flipped The Mortician at one point, and The Mortician lost.
The Mortician was sent to the loser's bracket where it faced MowBlow. The Mortician won this fight as well and was now up against Voodoo Child.

RoboGames 2005[]
The Mortician and Dolor collide
The Mortician's first fight at this event was against Voodoo Child. The Mortician won and was up against the wedge of Dolor. Dolor box-rushed The Mortician and bumped into The Mortician's backside. The Mortician spun its blade around and struck the wedge of Dolor a couple times. The Mortician paced around Dolor and then gave Dolor's wedge a few more shots, putting a couple holes in it. Dolor kept coming at The Mortician, however, as it was determined to break The Mortician's spinning bar. The Mortician deflected off the wedge of Dolor a couple times, before putting a hole in the right-side of Dolor's wedge and then in the center of Dolor's wedge. Despite the damage, Dolor charged at The Mortician again, and The Mortician struck Dolor dead-center in its wedge, putting in an even bigger hole. Dolor was struggling to move, and The Mortician got in a few more shots before landing a big hit on Dolor's side, sending pieces flying. Dolor stopped moving and tapped out. The Mortician was the winner of this fight, and it was now up against Phoenix II. The Mortician won this fight and was it once again the champion of the junior middleweight competition.
ComBots Cup I[]
Nasty Attitude pushes The Mortician
The Mortician's first fight was against Nasty Attitude. This was a great fight, as neither robot backed down, with both bots dishing out good hits. The Mortician's blade did some damage to Nasty Attitude in this fight, as it put several dents in its wedge, and sent little pieces of Nasty Attitude's armor flying all over the arena. At one point in the match, The Mortician's body busted open a little bit, similar to what Last Rites did more extremely. At the end of the fight, The Mortician was dragging its batteries. Nasty Attitude pushed The Mortician around the arena a little before time ran out. Nasty Attitude won on a 20-13 judge's decision, putting The Mortician in the loser's bracket, where it faced Total Anarchy 2.5.
The Mortician spun up its bar and started hitting Total Anarchy with it, and Total Anarchy appeared to have a huge design flaw as its wedge would lift up off the ground whenever it moved forward. Total Anarchy's armor held up to the punishment from The Mortician's bar very well, however, until The Mortician was eventually able to do some damage to the front lip of Total Anarchy's wedge, as it was starting to peel off. The Mortician continued to try to get to the sides of Total Anarchy 2.5, but Total Anarchy 2.5 kept spinning in place. Then, Total Anarchy 2.5's left wheel stops working, and The Mortician's bar becomes slower and then stops. Total Anarchy 2.5 started pushing The Mortician as well as it can for having only one functioning wheel. At the end of the fight, The Mortician's body is high-centered on the I-beam, but its bar started working again. Time ran out, and The Mortician won on a close 18-15 judge's decision.
The Mortician advanced to the next round, where it faced spinning drum of Angry Asp.

As the fight started, Angry Asp approached The Mortician, and The Mortician slammed its bar into the I-beam. The Mortician's bar was already disabled from that hit, making it very vulnerable to Angry Asp's drum spinner. Angry Asp then repeatedly hit The Mortician with it's drum spinner, tossing The Mortician all around the arena. This was until Angry Asp got one of its wedge-forks stuck in a floor seam. However, The Mortician decided to show some good sportsmanship, as it decided to free Angry Asp from the floor seam, despite the fact that Angry Asp was dominating the fight. As The Mortician did that, it ran right into Angry Asp's weapon and got flipped by it. The Mortician was now inverted, and Angry Asp tossed it into the air with its drum multiple times, dealing a little damage to The Mortician's wheels in the process. The fight ended, and Angry Asp won on a 25-8 judge's decision, eliminating The Mortician from the competition.
RoboGames 2006[]
The Mortician rips off the entire right-side of SubZero's armor
The Mortician's first match was against SubZero. Mortician spun up to full-speed, and SubZero paced around the arena, looking for an angle to attack The Mortician. The two robots finally made contact and The Mortician struck SubZero's wedge with its blade, but SubZero countered by shoving The Mortician into the wall, stopping its weapon. SubZero attempted to flip The Mortician, but missed. The Mortician got back up to speed and SubZero went at the backside of The Mortician. SubZero fired its flipper and missed again. The Mortician spun around and stuck the front of SubZero. SubZero went at The Mortician but The Mortician got to the side of SubZero and tore a piece of armor off. The Mortician delivered a few more shots to the body of SubZero, and then tore off a chunk of SubZero's wedge. SubZero tried to retreat, but The Mortician chased it and ripped SubZero's entire right side of armor off. SubZero's internals were completely exposed and it tapped out. The Mortician won by a devastating KO, and moved on to the next round where it faced Speed Bump XL.
The Mortician spun up its blade and struck Speed Bump XL with it, sending both bots spinning away. The Mortician's blade made a little bit of contact on Speed Bump XL's wedge, and then both bots spent a little bit of time maneuvering around each other. Eventually, Speed Bump XL ran into The Mortician with its wedge, and The Mortician's blade put a dent in Speed Bump XL's wedge, knocking The Mortician backward a little. The Mortician then drove up onto Speed Bump XL's wedge, however, Speed Bump XL couldn't lift The Mortician because its lifter was on the other side of the robot. Right after that, The Mortician landed a big hit on the side of Speed Bump XL, sending a big piece of its wedge flying across the arena. The Mortician landed another blow on the side of Speed Bump XL, and Speed Bump XL stopped moving. Speed Bump XL was counted out, and The Mortician won.
Touro pops The Mortician into the air
Touro Classic. This match started with both robots driving around the arena, not making any contact for over 30 seconds. The two robots finally made contact, and The Mortician hit Touro with its blade, tearing a gash in right-front side of Touro's front. Touro gets in a few hits with its drum, popping The Mortician into the air, and then Touro flipped The Mortician over. The Mortician's blade was still spinning, but it was now too high to hit Touro. The match continued with Touro hitting The Mortician with its drum, with The Mortician's blade barely scraping the top of Touro. Eventually, Touro flipped The Mortician back over, damaging the armor panel. However, The Mortician's frame was beaten up pretty bad as it was bent up, preventing the wheels from touching the floor. The Mortician was counted out and was sent to the loser's bracket where it faced SubZero again.

For this match, The Mortician changed it's wheels to ones that were similar to the ones used on Tombstone. However, as the match started, The Mortician's blade never spun up to full-speed, leaving them vulnerable to SubZero's flipper. After a few flips from SubZero, The Mortician's battery's flew out, rendering them immobile. The Mortician tapped out, and was eliminated from the tournament.
ComBots Cup II[]
The Mortician's first match in ComBots Cup II was against Stewie. The Mortician's blade collided with Stewie's wedge a few times, and The Mortician stopped moving, Stewie went at The Mortician again, and the two weapons collided. The Mortician was sent flying into the air, and The Mortician tapped out. Stewie was the winner.
The Mortician rips up a piece of Beer Bash
This put The Mortician into the loser's bracket, where it faced Beer Bash. The Mortician dominated this fight, knocking Beer Bash around like a little toy. Beer Bash's frame was all beat up as it had many dents in it from The Mortician's blade. One hit, in particular, sent Beer Bash flying all the way across the arena. The Mortician's blade cut right through Beer Bash's frame and cut through to its inner chassis. However, The Mortician ended up losing this fight somehow, as Beer Bash was still moving. The Mortician was counted out and was eliminated from the competition.
RoboGames 2007[]
The Mortician's first fight was against an overhead bar spinner called Maxo.
Both robots spun up their weapons to full-speed, with Maxo spinning up before the fight started. The two weapons collided, Maxo was sent flying upside down, and The Mortician lost a belt which resulted in it losing its drivetrain. This hit caused one of Maxo's teeth to shatter and strike the Lexan wall, leaving a mark on it. The Mortician was declared the winner of this match, and it advanced to the next round, where it faced SubZero.

The Mortician spun up its blade, and SubZero led with its wedge on the back. The Mortician hit SubZero's wedge twice, and SubZero started leaking CO2. However, The Mortician showed its backside to SubZero, and SubZero flipped The Mortician nearly into the ceiling, causing The Mortician's batteries to fall out. SubZero flipped The Mortician onto its back, and The Mortician tapped out.
The Mortician was now in the loser's bracket, where it faced Carnivorous Bunny.

The Mortician spun up its blade and struck Carnivorous Bunny a couple times, putting a hole in the front of Carnivorous Bunny. Carnivorous Bunny stopped moving and tapped out as it's pneumatic flipper was leaking CO2.
The Mortician was now up against Orion 3.
The Mortician spun its blade up to full-speed and immediately struck Orion 3 with it. However, this disabled The Mortician's bar spinner, making it vulnerable to being pushed around by Orion 3. Orion 3 attempted to push The Mortician into the wall, but The Mortician escaped at the last second. The rest of this fight consisted of Orion 3 pushing The Mortician all over the arena, and into the walls. Orion 3 won on a judge's decision, and The Mortician was eliminated from the competition.
ComBots Cup III[]
The Mortician's first fight from this event was against Skidplate. Both bots spun up their weapons and slowly approached each other for around 10-seconds. The robots finally made contact, and The Mortician lightly hit Skidplate's side. The Mortician went at Skidplate again, and got in a little hit on Skidplate's weapon, not doing a lot of damage. The Mortician then hit Skidplate's front a few times, putting a couple gashes in it, before The Mortician landed a big hit on Skidplate, tearing off its weapon chain. Skidplate's weapon was no longer spinning, and The Mortician landed a few more hits on Skidplate's armor, ripping off little pieces. Skidplate could no longer move, and it tapped out, giving The Mortician the win.
The Mortician moved on to face Beer Bash, looking for revenge after their match last ComBots Cup where The Mortician lost. Fortunately for The Mortician, it did end up getting its revenge as it won this fight.
The Mortician gets sent flying by Pipe Wench's wedge
The Mortician's next opponent was Vicious Verdict. The Mortician lost this fight and was sent to the loser's bracket, where it faced Pipe Wench.
Pipe Wench charged at The Mortician's spinning blade and The Mortician got in a nice hit on Pipe Wench's wedge, sending Pipe Wench spinning away, and The Mortician a little off-balance. The Mortician got scooped up by Pipe Wench's wedge while the blade was still spinning, causing The Mortician to spin itself out of control. The Mortician's top panel was now loose. The Mortician recovered and Pipe Wench drove up on top of The Mortician a couple times, with The Mortician's blade just centimeters away from Pipe Wench's wheels. Pipe Wench then rammed into The Mortician's blade, sending The Mortician flying and crashing upside-down. The Mortician's wheels were having some serious trouble touching the ground due to its top panel being bent. The Mortician was then driven into the wall by Pipe Wench. The Mortician's batteries started smoking, and it tapped out. The Mortician was eliminated from the competition
RoboGames 2008[]
The Mortician was first against Vicious Verdict. The Mortician and Vicious Verdict collided weapon to weapon in the center of the arena, causing lots of sparks. The Mortician then hit Vicious Verdict's side, tearing off little chunks of armor, and sending Vicious Verdict crashing into the wall. Vicious Verdict's weapon was slowing down, and The Mortician hit it again. Vicious Verdict lightly tapped The Mortician's side with it's blade that was spinning about 2mph. The Mortician chased Vicious Verdict around and caught one of Vicious Verdict's wheels, ripping it clean off. Vicious Verdict tapped out, and The Mortician was the winner. The announcer hilariously messed up as he mistakenly announced Last Rites as the winner of the fight before correcting himself.
The Mortician's next opponent was a wedge bot called Piranha 3. The Mortician spun up its blade, and Piranha 3 went straight at it. Piranha 3 got underneath The Mortician and shoved it into the wall, and The Mortician's blade started chipping away at the left side of the wheels on Piranha 3, tearing one of them off. The Mortician spun back up and struck the wedge of Piranha 3 before Piranha 3 got underneath The Mortician again and slammed it into the wall. The Mortician's blade started hitting the floor, and it landed upside down. The Mortician spun back up, and Piranha 3 drove it into the wall again, losing the other tire on its left side. Piranha 3 only had one side of tires. The Mortician hit Piranha 3 with its blade a few times and then hit the wall, causing it to start flipping around. The Mortician stabilized itself and started moving really slowly, probably because its drivetrain was rattled from the impact of it hitting the wall. Both robots spent some time spinning in circles, not doing much. The Mortician struck Piranha 3's wedge, and then made a wide-arch turn. The Mortician went up Piranha 3's wedge, causing The Mortician to go a little unstable. The Mortician's blade hit the wall, causing The Mortician to get itself stranded on its side. There was nothing The Mortician could do, and it was counted out.
The Mortician was now in the loser's bracket, where it faced the vertical bar spinner of Terminal Velocity.
Both bots spun up their weapons, and The Mortician made a huge driving error right off the bat as it exposed its side to Terminal Velocity, allowing Terminal Velocity to hit The Mortician's side. Terminal Velocity popped The Mortician into the air and tore a huge gash in The Mortician's side. The Mortician crashed into the wall and spun right back around, and the two weapons collided. Both bots were knocked away, and The Mortician stopped moving. The Mortician tapped out and was eliminated from the competition.
RoboGames 2009[]
The Mortician's first fight was against Wolverine 3.
Both bots spun their weapons up to full-speed and collided head-on. The spinning eggbeater of Wolverine 3 was already disabled from that hit, and The Mortician struck it again, tearing pieces off of Wolverine 3. Wolverine 3's eggbeater was now bent and was about to fall off. The Mortician then hit the side of Wolverine 3, sending Wolverine 3 into the corner and sending pieces of Wolverine 3 flying into the Lexan wall. Wolverine 3 now had a huge gash in its side. The Mortician struck again and tore off Wolverine 3's entire eggbeater drumspinner. The Mortician then tossed Wolverine 3's eggbeater across the arena, and Wolverine 3 got stuck on the wall. The Mortician freed Wolverine 3 from the wall by striking it with its blade again. The Mortician then tore off both of Wolverine 3's weapon supports, and Wolverine 3 stopped moving. Wolverine 3 tapped out, and The Mortician won.
The Mortician went on to face Touro Classic.
Both bots spun up to speed and collided from weapon to weapon in the center of the arena. The Mortician was sent spinning away, and Touro came in for more. The bots collided again, and The Mortician tore Touro's left-front side up a little. Touro flipped The Mortician over in that exchange, and The Mortician's blade was now higher off the ground. Touro came in for a shot on The Mortician's rear, but The Mortician spun around and hit Touro, getting it stuck on the wall. Touro's wheels couldn't touch the ground, so it couldn't move. Touro tapped out, and The Mortician won.
The Mortician was then up against the vertical flywheel of VD5.
Both robots spun their weapons up to full-speed, and The Mortician hit the side of VD5. Both bots went at each other again and collided weapon to weapon in the center of the arena. The Mortician took off one of VD5's weapon belts in that exchange. The Mortician hit VD5 again, tearing a piece of armor off of it, and The Mortician flipped itself over not once but twice. The Mortician then showed its side to VD5, and VD5 hit the side of The Mortician, popping The Mortician in the air and sending it into the wall. The Mortician spun right back around and delivered a good hit to VD5, causing VD5 to spin around in a 720-rotation. The Mortician hit the side of VD5, sending VD5 spinning away, and then VD5 retaliated by hitting the side of The Mortician and something fell out from inside of The Mortician. The Mortician was spinning around like crazy, and it struck VD5 twice with its blade, sending pieces of VD5 flying. The Mortician hit the wall, and VD5 hit the side of The Mortician again with its vertical flywheel and flipped The Mortician over, tearing one of The Mortician's side panels loose, and tearing out a belt to one of The Mortician's wheels. The Mortician stopped moving, and it tapped out.
This put The Mortician into the loser's bracket, where it faced TSA Inspected.
The Mortician spun up, and TSA Inspected went right at it. The Mortician struck the side of TSA Inspected's wedge, causing The Mortician to send itself spinning away into the corner. The Mortician hit TSA Inspected again, and The Mortician's side panel, that was damaged by VD5 earlier, came loose again. A couple batteries fell out of The Mortician's side as well. However, The Mortician could still run, and it landed a few nice hits on TSA Inspected's wedge, putting some dents in it. The Mortician wasn't moving too well, and then it hit TSA Inspected's wedge again and stopped moving. TSA Inspected pushed The Mortician around a little bit as The Mortician's blade kept scraping against its wedge. The Mortician was eventually counted out and was eliminated from the competition.

The Mortician
The Mortician's first fight was against Dr. Robert Killimajig. The Mortician won by KO.
The Mortician then faced Kinetic Chaos.
After hitting Kinetic Choa's body multiple times, The Mortician was able to rip off one of Kinetic Choas's tires. Kinetic Choas then tapped out giving The Mortician the win.
The Mortician then faced TSA Inspected.
At the start of the match, The Mortician's weapon never spun up, allowing TSA Inspected to shove them around the arena until The Mortician tapped out.
This meant that The Mortician was now in the loser's bracket where they faced Touro Classic.
Dispite losing their weapon chain, The Mortician was able to be the more agressive robot while Touro Classic was having driving issues. The Mortican won by a judge decision and advanced to the next round where they faced Vessella.
While The Mortician was able to get a few hits on Vessella, Vessella was the more agressive robot, constantly pinning The Mortician against the wall. The Mortician's weapon batteries than started pouring out smoke. However it's blade was still spinning and The Mortician was able to deliver 3 more hits on Vessella. The 3rd hit disabled The Mortician's blade, however it also disabled one side of Vessella's drive. The rest of the match consisted of Vessella trying to drive on one working wheel while The Mortician drove around the arena. Vessella then got high centered and it's working wheel was unable to touch the ground. However time ran out before they could get counted out and the fight went to the judges. The Mortician ended up winning by a split 17-16 Decision and advanced to the loser's bracket final where they faced TSA Inspected.
The match started with The Mortician spinning up and TSA Inspected box rushing The Mortician, getting underneath them. This however allowed The Mortician's spinning blade to rip off TSA Inspected's left tire off, leaving TSA Inspected with one wheel left. The Mortician then got 3 hits on TSA Inspected. The first 2 hits on the wedge, not doing much, but the 3rd hit managaged to tear a chunk off of TSA Inspected's right tire. This however also caused The Mortician to lose it's weapon chain. With its weapon starting to spin down, The Mortician then slammed into TSA Inspected's right tire, knocking it off and leaving TSA Inspected immobile, giving The Mortician the win by KO.
The Mortician then advanced to the finals where they faced Orion.
The match started with The Mortician spinning up to full speed. They then got a hit on Orion's wedge which ended up breaking their own bar in half. The match was stopped as the broken half of Mortician's blade landed outside the arena. Once the match resumed, The Mortician chose to not spin up it's bar. In the end Orion ended up winning by a 17-16 decision and The Mortician placed second, winning the silver metal.
RoboGames 2013[]
The Mortician sends sparks flying against Taz

The Mortician's first match match was against full body spinner, Taz. The match started with both robots spinning up and colliding with each other. Taz's weapon eventually stopped working after a few hits. The Mortician then got one more hit which disabled Taz's drive. Taz was counted out and The Mortician won by KO. The Mortician then faced KPUCIR Desperado.

After a number of hits, both bot's weapons stopped working and the fight was reduced to a pushing match. The Mortician won by a judge's decision and advanced to the next round where it faced Heavy Metal.
After a couple hits on Heavy Metal's wedge, The Mortician's blade stopped working. However it also broke one side of Heavy Metal's drive in the process, leaving them to drive in circles. Eventually Heavy Metal stopped moving, giving The Mortician the win by KO. The Mortician advanced to the next round where they faced Touro Classic.

The match started with Touro attempting to box rush The Mortician. However The Mortician was able to spin its weapon up to full speed and delivered a hit, Touro flying across the arena. Touro then got its own hit and sent The Mortician out of control. The Mortician restabilized and spun its weapon back up. It then got a hit on Touro. This disabled The Mortician's weapon, leaving them vulnerable to Touro's spinning drum. Touro then got a number of hits, one nearly sending The Mortician out of the arena. Then one hit snapped The Mortician's blade in half as well as ripping the chain off, leaving The Mortician with no hope of spinning back up. Despite this The Mortician remained aggressive and attempted to push Touro. However Touro got another hit which flipped The Mortician and knocked off one of the wheels. The Mortician tapped out to prevent further damage. This loss meant that The Mortician was now in the loser's bracket where they faced another full body spinner Blender.

Unfortunately, The Mortician was unable to repair the damage they suffered in their previous match and went in without a working weapon. Luckily, for unknown reasons, Blender's weapon never spun up, leaving both robots without working weapons. The match consisted of both robots trying to push each other, neither one able take advantage. With one minute left however, Blender suddenly stopped moving. The Mortician celebrated as Blender was counted out. The Mortician won by KO and advanced to the loser's bracket semi-final where they faced Kaku.

The match started with The Mortician spinning its blade up to full speed. It got a hit on Kaku's wedge, sending sparks flying. It got 3 more hits on Kaku. The 3rd hit caused The Mortician to start smoking and disabled its blade. However it also broke one side of Kaku's drive. The rest of the match consisted of The Mortician attempting to push Kaku. The Mortician ended up winning by a 18-15 judges decision and advanced to the loser's bracket final where they faced General.
Not much is known about this match, however it is known that General won. This loss meant that The Mortician was eliminated from the tournament, placing third and winning the bronze metal.
The Mortician did not return for Robogames 2015.
RoboGames 2023[]
The Mortician's first opponent in its return to the RoboGames arena was the sturdy 4WD wedge of Who's Your Daddy Now?.
The fight started with The Mortician attempting to spin up, but failing and being bullied into the corner. Who's Your Daddy Now? released the pin and The Mortician bolted to the center of the arena and cranked up the weapon to full speed. After throwing Who's Your Daddy Now? across the arena, The Mortician capitalized on this by ripping off one of the rear wheels of Who's Your Daddy Now?. Who's Your Daddy Now? responded by ramming The Mortician weapon first into the wall. The Mortician recovered and endured several more wall slams before it ripped off the other rear wheel. This freed up The Mortician to dish out punishing blows to Who's Your Daddy Now? who eventually stopped working. Who's Your Daddy Now? was counted out and the win went to The Mortician. This put The Mortician through to the semifinals where it would face the compact 2WD drum spinner, Copyright Infringement.
The fight started with both bots spinning up and exchanging a small weapon to weapon shot that sent The Mortician spinning back into its starting square. The Mortician recovered and countered by smacking Copyright Infringement halfway across the arena into the wall. At this point, both weapons were at full tilt and this showed because the next weapon to weapon shot from these two robots flipped The Mortician and sent both bots into opposite corners of the arena. The fight continued with several brutal shots from both bots, but eventually, Copyright Infringement got stuck underneath the wall, stopping the fight for an unstick.
When the fight got back underway, The Mortician tried to spin up and jammed its weapon on its own frame. Copyright Infringement capitalized on this and delivered a no-holds barred beatdown that caused The Mortician's batteries to catch on fire. The Mortician was counted out, and the win went to Copyright Infringement, demoting The Mortician to the losers bracket where it would fight a 2WD brick of a vertical spinner, BMF.
The fight started with both bots spinning up and a quick box rush from BMF jamming The Mortician's weapon. The Mortician escaped to the center of the arena, but BMF was right there, slamming it back into the wall. BMF kept up this smothering driving style and flipped The Mortician before throwing it out of the arena. The Mortician was counted out and the win went to BMF, eliminating The Mortician with style.

In 2004 The Mortician competed in the Steel Conflict hosted Southwest Division Championships where it went 1-2. Then in 2007 before that years RoboGames event it competed in the BattleBots event at Sun Microsystems where it went 1-1.
