Totally Offensive

Totally Offensive was a Featherweight built by Team Mad Overlord that competed in the 2004, and 2005 RFL Nationals, as well as RoboGames 2007 - 2010. It was a Silver, two-wheeled robot armed with an undercutting spinning blade. Totally Offensive did very well in competition, becoming champion in both RFL Nationals events and winning the Gold Medal at RoboGames 2007. Totally Offensive would ultimately be retired after RoboGames 2010 after competing exclusively in RoboGames during the final three years of its career.

Robot History[]

2004 RFL Nationals[]

Totally Offensive's first fight was against a wedge/spatula robot called Doom.

Totally Offensive vs Doom

Totally Offensive flips Doom

Totally Offensive spun up its blade and slowly approached Doom with it. Totally Offensive landed a big hit on Doom's wedge, sending Doom spinning away, and Totally Offensive off-balance a little. This hit tore up Doom's wedge a little as it was now off the ground and vulnerable to Totally Offensive's spinning blade. Doom went at Totally Offensive and got popped up into the air by Totally Offensive's blade. Doom maneuvered around Totally Offensive a little bit, before Totally Offensive hit Doom's wedge a couple times and then flipped Doom over. Doom stopped moving and tapped out, giving Totally Offensive the win.

Totally Offensive vs VD3

Totally Offensive sends VD3.3HF (hellfire) flying

Totally Offensive's next fight was against Team Fish Tank's VD3.3HF [hellfire]. Both bots spun up their weapons, and Totally Offensive started hitting the front of VD3, causing a wheel to fall off of VD3. Then Totally Offensive collided weapon to weapon with VD3, which sent VD3 flying, causing it to do a complete flip and land on its wheels. VD3 stopped moving, and it was counted out.

Totally Offensive advanced to the next round, where it faced The Bully.

The first minute of this fight consisted of Totally Offensive hitting The Bully, who was unphased and kept coming at it. Eventually, Totally Offensive was able to land a big hit on the side of The Bully's plow, sending The Bully spinning away. The Bully's plow was now dangling on one side. Totally Offensive hit The Bully some more before The Bully managed to flip Totally Offensive. The Bully then helped Totally Offensive right itself. The Bully was struggling to move as its plow kept scraping against the floor, and Totally Offensive hit it again, sending Totally Offensive flying into the corner of the arena. The Bully pushed Totally Offensive around a little until time ran out. Totally Offensive won on a judge's decision and advanced to the semi-finals, where it faced Team Hardcore Robotics' Bear Tracks.

Bear Tracks vs Totally Offensive (Semi-Finals)

Totally Offensive rips a wheel off of Bear Tracks

Both bots spun up their weapons and approached each other for 20-seconds, and Totally Offensive hit Bear Tracks, stopping its blade for the moment, but it spun right back up. Totally Offensive hit Bear Tracks a few more times, showing its superior reach advantage, as Bear Tracks could not get its blade to bear on Totally Offensive. Then, Totally Offensive got to the side of Bear Tracks and ripped a wheel right off it, causing parts to fly. Bear Tracks couldn't move after that, and Totally Offensive did a victory dance as Bear Tracks was counted out.

Since Bear Tracks won its loser's final fight, Totally Offensive had to face it again in the finals.

Totally Offensive vs Bear Tracks (Finals)

Totally Offensive rips off a wheel of Bear Tracks for a second time

Just like their last fight, both bots spun up their weapons and spent some time approaching each other. Both bots collided head to head, and then Bear Tracks landed a nice hit on the side of Totally Offensive. The two bots collided head to head again, both getting in a nice hit on one another until Bear Tracks got to the rear of Totally Offensive and landed a nice hit, knocking Totally Offensive away. Totally Offensive was not moving too well due to those attacks from Bear Tracks, and Bear Tracks approached it again. Bear Tracks lined itself up for another hit and went for the back of Totally Offensive. Totally Offensive dodged Bear Tracks' blade by millimeters, and Totally Offensive spun right back around and ripped a wheel off of Bear Tracks just like in their last fight. Bear Tracks could no longer move, and it was counted out. Totally Offensive was the official winner of the 2004 RFL National Finals.

2005 RFL Nationals[]

Totally Offensive's first fight was against Team Robotic Death Company's Killabyte.

Totally Offensive vs Killabyte

Totally Offensive and Killabyte collide

Both robots spun up and approached each other and then collided weapon to weapon a couple times, causing sparks to fly. Killabyte was trying to get to Totally Offensive's vulnerable backside, but it's hard to aim a full-body spinner. Both bots collided again, and this was a big hit, a piece of something bounced off the Lexan wall, and Killabyte was now off-balance as its spinning shell was producing sparks on the floor. To minimize this effect, Killabyte decided to switch to the strategy of not spinning up until it's near Totally Offensive. This backfired for Killabyte, as this allowed Totally Offensive to get in some hits on Killabyte, who then quit moving. Totally Offensive won by knockout and was up against Super Sparky.

Totally Offensive vs Super Sparky

Totally Offensive rips off a wheel of Super Sparky

The fight started, and the timer wasn't working. Totally Offensive spun up its weapon, and Super Sparky's weapon didn't seem to be working, making it vulnerable to Totally Offensive's undercutting blade. Totally Offensive hit Super Sparky, tearing off one of its wheels. Totally Offensive hit Super Sparky again, tearing another wheel off the other side of the robot. Super Sparky was counted out, and Totally Offensive won by knockout.

Totally Offensive then faced a wooden full-body spinner called Splinterator. Both robots spun up and collided, and Totally Offensive's blade easily sliced through Splinterator's wooden shell, as tons of pieces of wood were sent flying all over the arena. The arena floor was now covered in wood splinters, as Splinterator's entire shell was ripped apart. However, Splinterator still had its top panel and was still spinning. Totally Offensive hit Splinterator again and ripped Splinterator's guts out, spraying them all over the floor. Splinetrator tapped out because there was almost nothing left of it, and Totally Offensive was the winner.

RoboGames 2007[]

Totally Offensive vs Plasma

Totally Offensive gets knocked onto its rear

Totally Offensive's first fight was against the spinning drum of Plasma. Both bots spun up their weapons, and Totally Offensive stuck Plasma a couple times before the two weapons collided, and both bots were sent flying backwards. Totally Offensive was still moving, and Plasma wasn't. Totally Offensive hit Plasma a couple times, and got upended on its back. Totally Offensive got back on its wheels, and Plasma started moving again. Totally Offensive hit Plasma a few more times and Plasma stopped moving again. This time, Plasma couldn't get itself moving again and it tapped out.

Totally Offensive was now up against Alpha Q.

Totally Offensive spun up and hit Alpha Q once, and Alpha Q stopped moving. Totally Offensive won by knockout and advanced to the next round, where it faced BruClaw.

Totally Offensive spun up its weapon and BruClaw approached it with its lifting arm up for some reason. Totally Offensive started tearing pieces of Lexan armor off of BruClaw. BruClaw stopped moving and tapped out, giving Totally Offensive another quick knockout.

Totally Offensive vs Billy Bob

Totally Offensive hits Billy Bob

Totally Offensive's next opponent was Billy Bob. Both bots spun up their weapons, and Billy Bob charged at Totally Offensive, knocking Totally Offensive onto its rear end. Totally Offensive righted itself and gave Billy Bob a nice shot, sending Billy Bob spinning away. This hit appeared to do some internal damage as Billy Bob could only drive on one side. Totally Offensive started hitting Billy Bob with its blade, knocking Billy Bob around, and then Billy Bob's vertical disc stopped spinning. Totally Offensive knocked Billy Bob around some more, and Billy Bob got high-centered on a seam of the floor, though the referee's thought that Billy Bob was immobile, so they counted it out. The fight was paused as people realized that Billy Bob was just stuck on a seam of the floor, so Billy Bob got a free unstick. The fight resumed, and Billy Bob was still having trouble driving on one side. Totally Offensive was still working 100% and proceeded to hit Billy Bob several times with its blade for the rest of the fight. Billy Bob's armor proved to be very tough as it absorbed all the punishment that Totally Offensive could dish out. The fight ended, and Totally Offensive won on a judge's decision.

Totally Offensive vs Proteus

Totally Offensive hits Proteus

Totally Offensive was now in the finals against the deadly drumspinner of Proteus.

Both bots spun up their weapons to full-speed and the weapons collided a couple times. Neither bot was phased and Totally Offensive knocked Proteus around a little bit with its blade. Proteus stopped moving and was counted out. Totally Offensive won its second championship in RoboGames.

RoboGames 2008[]

Totally Offensive vs Relic

Relic hits Totally Offensive's rear end

Totally Offensive was first against the extremely powerful undercutting bar spinner of Relic. For this fight, Totally Offensive made it so its blade was spinning on top of its frame like an over cutter instead of on the bottom like an undercutter. This was so Totally Offensive could have a reach advantage so its weapon would be higher than Relic's blade and instead hit the frame of Relic because Totally Offensive would have no chance when going weapon to weapon with Relic.

The fight started, and both bots spun their weapons up to full-speed and collided head to head. Relic then hit the vulnerable rear of Totally Offensive and knocked Totally Offensive across the arena. Totally Offensive was immobilized, and it tapped out. Relic won by knockout in just 14-seconds. This put Totally Offensive into the loser's bracket, where it faced Trigger Happy.

Totally Offensive vs Trigger Happy

Totally Offensive strikes Trigger Happy

Trigger Happy's plan for this fight was to have its long lifter in the upright position so it could keep its distance from Totally Offensive's spinning blade. The fight started, and Totally Offensive spun up its weapon. Totally Offensive struck the front of Trigger Happy, doing a little damage to Trigger Happy's wedge. Trigger Happy's lifter was bent from that hit. Trigger Happy charged at Totally Offensive again and took a big hit to the side, sending Trigger Happy halfway across the arena and into the wall. Trigger Happy could only drive on one side now. Totally Offensive struck the rear of Trigger Happy, knocking it away. Trigger Happy stopped moving and Totally Offensive struck it again as it tapped out.

Proteus vs Totally Offensive

Proteus vs Totally Offensive 2008

Proteus sends itself flying as it attempts to right itself

Totally Offensive moved on to face Proteus who was looking for revenge from the last time these two fought where Totally Offensive quickly defeated it. Both bots spun up and collided weapon to weapon a few times. Totally Offensive sent a piece of Proteus flying into the wall and bent up one of the supports on the front of Proteus that prevented its drum from hitting the ground. Totally Offensive landed a big hit on Proteus which sent Proteus spinning away. Proteus' drumspinner was now hitting the floor as Totally Offensive struck its weapon, and then its side. Totally Offensive then sent one of Proteus' weapon supports flying into oblivion. Proteus' weapon stopped spinning, and Totally Offensive proceeded to hit Proteus several times. Proteus got stuck on the wall but it freed itself. Totally Offensive lost its left-side of drive, and Proteus was just sitting there in the corner of the arena not doing much of anything. Totally Offensive crawled over toward the corner of the arena and sent another piece of Proteus flying. Proteus' weapon started spinning and hitting the floor again and Totally Offensive struck it a couple times, knocking Proteus away. Proteus' drive appeared to be just fine, however, as it charged at Totally Offensive. Totally Offensive struck the rear of Proteus, sending Proteus spinning. Proteus stopped spinning its weapon again. Totally Offensive hit Proteus' armor a couple times and then Proteus spent some time maneuvering around the arena. Proteus also appeared to have lost one of its weapon teeth from one of the hits from Totally Offensive. Totally Offensive hit Proteus a couple more times, and then Proteus charged into Totally Offensive. Totally Offensive sent a piece of Proteus flying and Totally Offensive's spinner started slowing down before spinning back up. Totally Offensive struck Proteus a couple more times and its blade stopped again. Proteus spun up its weapon and popped itself in the air with it when it hit Totally Offensive, due to the fact that Proteus was upside down. Totally Offensive was barely moving and time ran out. Surprisingly, for some odd reason, the judge's ruled this fight in favor of Proteus, despite all the hits and damage that Totally Offensive dished out throughout the fight. Totally Offensive was eliminated from the competition.

RoboGames 2009[]

Totally Offensive was first up against Mini Verdict. Totally Offensive spun up its weapon, and Mini Verdict's shell didn't spin up at all when the fight started. Totally Offensive chased it around a little and Mini Verdict started to spin up finally. Mini Verdict got up to around half-speed and the two weapons collided. Both bots were knocked backward, and Totally Offensive got stuck on the wall. With the use of its blade, Totally Offensive was able to get itself free from the wall. However, Mini Verdict wasn't moving at all after that hit and it was counted out. Totally Offensive did a victory spin and advanced to the next round, where it faced The Bully.

Totally Offensive spun up and The Bully charged it and knocked Totally Offensive across the arena several times. Totally Offensive landed a nice shot on The Bully, causing The Bully to spin around. After a few more collisions, The Bully managed to break off part of Totally Offensive's blade. Totally Offensive was now wobbling like crazy and caused the robot self-destruct. Totally Offensive's frame was bent and it was falling apart. Totally Offensive stopped moving and was counted out. Totally Offensive was now in the loser's bracket, where it faced its rival Proteus.

Totally Offensive breaks in half

Both robots spun their weapons up and approached each other. Totally Offensive collided weapon to weapon with Proteus, and then whole robot split apart into two pieces. Proteus did a victory dance, and Totally Offensive was counted out, eliminating it from the competition.

RoboGames 2010[]

Totally Offensive was first up against Mitch. Totally Offensive spun up its weapon, and Mitch got underneath Totally Offensive a few times before Totally Offensive's blade got a good piece of Mitch's wedge, which sent both bots flying backward, and Totally Offensive spinning into the wall. Totally Offensive's blade stopped spinning and Mitch drove it all around the arena for around a minute and 15-seconds. Totally Offensive eventually tapped out, giving Mitch the win.

Totally Offensive vs Relic (2010)

Totally Offensive and Relic collide

Totally Offensive was now in the loser's bracket, where it faced Relic. Totally Offensive went with the same configuration as it went with in RoboGames 2008, where Relic defeated Totally Offensive by KO.

Both bots spun up their weapons and positioned them for an attack on one another. The bots collided, and Totally Offensive went flying into the arena wall, hitting it and sending itself flying up onto another wall. This disabled Relic's blade and Totally Offensive was trying to get itself off of the wall. Eventually, Totally Offensive got itself off the wall and spun up its weapon, as it did, however, the blade started hitting against its own frame, causing sparks to fly. Relic wasn't doing much of anything except driving around. Eventually, Totally Offensive managed to hit Relic with its spinning blade, and Relic stopped moving. Relic was counted out, and Totally Offensive won by knockout.

Totally Offensive vs Jubileu

Totally Offensive's self-righter gets sliced by Jubileu

Totally Offensive advanced to the next round, where it faced a horizontal spinner called Jubileu.

Both bots spun up their weapons to full-speed and collided. Jubileu was sent spinning away, and the self-righting thing on the rear of Totally Offensive was disconnected on one side. This impact caused one of Jubileu's motors to start smoking. Both bots lost one side of the drive, and they crawled toward each other until Totally Offensive struck Jubileu with its blade, which caused Jubileu to catch fire. Jubileu stopped moving and was counted out.

Totally Offensive vs Ramblin' Wreck

Totally Offensive and Ramblin' Wreck collide

Totally Offensive was now up against the undercutting blade of Ramblin' Wreck. Totally Offensive lost this fight, and it was eliminated from the competition.
